STILL ALIVE

Nehemiah Persoff – 102

If there’s one life lesson that Nehemiah Persoff taught us, it would be that it’s never too late to alter the course of our life. An immigrant from Jerusalem, the ’40s celebrity appeared in more than 200 films and television series, pioneering the Golden Age of Hollywood.

Before Persoff considered acting, he was a subway electrician doing maintenance. Then, in good time, he switched profession and moved on to Broadway with a debut in ‘Emperor’s New Clothes.’ For over 50 years, the veteran’s superb talent for dialects and mastered-villainy won him standout roles in ‘Al Capone’ and ‘The Sea Wall.’ Even after retiring, Persoff showed off his craft, creating around 100 watercolor artworks exhibited in California.
