In modern Spain, there’s no doubt that the wedding of Crown Prince Felipe of Spain to Letizia Ortiz Rocasolano was one of the greatest events of the time! The public was initially shocked, probably because the prince had announced that he was marrying a newscaster—and a divorced newscaster at that! Nonetheless, 1,500 guests witnessed the exchange of their vows and enjoyed the opulent affair. The Crown Prince gifted the bride’s veil to her. It was constructed of silk tulle colored off-white with details that were embroidered by hand. Since 2004, the couple has stuck together and it seems they will never have divorce papers in sight.
