Italy has a rich cultural history in the acting industry, and that tradition was cemented by actresses like Valentina Cortese. Apart from her role in the iconic Les Miserables (where she portrayed both the roles of Cosette and Fantine), the Italian blue-eyed beauty received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress after her appearance on Day For Night. Her lucrative deal with 20th Century Fox in 1948 increased her personal finances critically, and it’s no wonder that she’s now 96 with perfect health. Following that, she appeared in several American films, including When Time Ran Out in 1980.
