140. Tony Warren – SHORT ILLNESS

Tony Warren created the famous soap opera, Coronation Street. He got started in the entertainment industry on the radio show Children’s Hour hosted by BBC Radio. He was said to have faced homophobia because he was an openly gay man at a time where it was taboo. He later suffered from a drug and alcohol addiction but was saved by rehab. He died at the age of 79 due to a short illness. Warren was also famous for having published some highly praised novels such as The Light of Manchester.
