A Narrow Escape
Harper reluctantly agreed to Dennis’s plan, and they hurried toward his car. As they neared the vehicle, Harper suddenly yelped, pointing to a man heading straight for them. It was her uncle. Panic surged through them both, and Dennis quickly ushered her into the car.
He slid into the driver’s seat, adrenaline surging, and floored the gas pedal. In the rearview mirror, Dennis saw the man giving chase, but they managed to widen the gap. Harper trembled beside him, and he reached over to squeeze her hand reassuringly.
