Former Child Stars You’d Never Ever Recognize On The Street – We Reveal Who Made It Through Childhood Successfully

Jaleel White – Still In Business With $10M Net-Worth

Who doesn’t remember Steve Urkel saying “Oops! Did I do that?”

Actually, Jaleel White was supposed to play Rudy Huxtable on The Cosby Show in the 1980s but a casting decision gave the part to Keshia Knight Pulliam. Thankfully he didn’t get that role, and found fame soon enough when he was castes as the annoying, nerdy Steve Urkel on Family Matters.

The performance on Family Matters was actually supposed to be a one-time guest role but turned into White’s performance of a lifetime. With the nerdy appearance of Steve Urkel, White simply won over the audience’s sympathy.

After Spending nearly a decade in geeky suspenders and thick glasses, White happily wrapped up Family Matters in 1997 and focused on finding other jobs in Hollywood. Unfortunately, he had to find out that life after playing Steve Urkel was harder than he imagined. He even signed up for UCLA Film School from where he graduated in 2001. His former experience and educational background hasn’t helped him to find the acting roles he was looking for. He had minor roles on TV shows like Boston Legal and House and Dreamgirls. For us Jaleel White will always be Steve Urkel – that’s why it is maybe so hard for him to land another lifetime job. But who knows, maybe they will start filming Family Matters again. Then he is back for sure.
