Mara Wilson – Left Acting To Pursue Writing

Mara’s parents were totally not enthusiastic about her wanting to audition for commercials for high profile brands like Lunchable and Texaco. But Mara Wilson was very determined to become famous and convinced her parents to go with her to the auditions. After she acted in many commercials she auditioned for the 1993 hit Mrs. Doubtfire and won the part. Shortly after she also appeared in Miracle on 34th Street and on Melrose Place. Then she finally landed her real break-through job as the lead actor in the show Matilda. By the age of 13 Wilson was known internationally and made quite a name for herself. Unfortunately, two years later her mother died after suffering for more than a year from breast cancer and Wilson lost interest in acting.

At the age of 12 Wilson was diagnosed with obsessive-compulsive disorder and till today she struggles with anxiety and depression. Recently, she joined a nonprofit organization that helps teens with mental illness.

After the shootings in Orlando in 2016 she publicly talked about the fact that she is interested in sleeping with men and women. She did this to show her solidarity of the LGBT community. In 2009 she graduated from NYU Tisch’s Schhol of the Art.

In 2016 she returned on television playing an actress on Broad City.
