Josip Peruzovic AKA Nikolai Volkoff – Died at 70
Josip Hrvoje Peruzovic used the Russian-sounding stage name Nikolai Volkoff although he was actually a Yugoslav-born American wrestler. He won the WWF Tag Team Championship alongside The Iron Sheik with whom he teamed up in the ’80s. He started his semi-retirement in 1995 but appeared occasionally on the WWE television. He also worked as a code enforcement officer in Baltimore County in his retirement days. This incredibly strong man continued to wrestle until the age of 70, right up to his last breath. He was treated at a hospital for dehydration and other health problems but he didn’t make it. He died at this home in July 2018.
