Songwriting is not Jimmy Buffet’s only passion. He also has a thing for flying, and he fell for the Grumman HU-16 Albatross which had already been decommissioned. But back in its heydays, the jet was even under suspicion of transporting drugs, so the Jamaican police discharged an AA shot targeting the aircraft. That was back in 1996, and Jimmy probably finds the story funny now. He owns many jets, but he doesn’t fly his Albatross anymore. Instead, he’s put it on display outside his own cafe at the Lone Palm Airport.
