60. That’s a Lot of Calories…
We don’t believe that it’s true for a second, but a sign saying ‘10,000 calories Sundae’ (and all for 35 cents!) is a highly effective advertising gimmick, and one which is difficult to ignore! This photo captures the iconic ice cream parlour scene in 1950s America, and the girls in the photo are the perfect picture of happiness and innocence.
The fact of the matter is that your average ice cream sundae contains around 300 calories, but Blair Parson, the vendor in the photo, is clearly doing good business with her outrageous claims nonetheless!
