11. The Ice Cave
The Terra Nova expedition took place in the first half of the 1910s and was a British endeavor to map out and conduct tests in the mysterious continent of Antarctica. This particular photo encapsulates the sheer wonder of what those scientists must have come across with when they first set foot in this area – a new and fascinating land, which offered moments of utter desolation and majesty.
Taken in 1911, this photo perfectly displays the eerie power of nature and shows man as a tiny figure standing within the vast structures of ice and snow.
