Roderick George Toombs AKA Rowdy Roddy Piper – Died at 61

Rowdy Roddy Piper, as was his ring name, was recognizable for his signature kilt as well as bagpipe music during his performances. Roddy held 34 championships and his greatest rival was Hulk Hogan. Widely considered as one of professional wrestling’s greatest stars, Piper also appeared in many TV shows and films. He had a recurring role on It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and he also made an appearance in the 1988’s They Live. According to an interview, Piper believed he wouldn’t make it to 65 due to his declining health and unfortunately, he was right. He died in July 2015 due to cardiopulmonary arrest caused by hypertension. He was 61.
