101. Alice Playten – HEART FAILURE / PANCREATIC CANCER / DIABETES
Alice Playten was a famous actress and Broadway star who sadly faced a dreadful battle with diabetes ever since she was a young girl. In June 2011 and at 63 years old, she passed away because of heart failure and lifelong diabetes, complicated further by her pancreatic cancer. During her career, Playten received recognition for her appearances in kids TV shows such as The Lost Saucer and That’s Cat. She also stuck in everyone’s memories for her commercial with Alka-Seltzer, in which she was a recently married wife who cooked a huge dumpling for her husband.
