159. Johnny Stompanato – STABBING
Mickey Cohen’s bodyguard, Johnny Stompanato, was also known to be a member of the Jewish Mafia. Defense lawyers claimed that Cheryl Crane, Lana Tuner’s daughter was the one who stabbed Johnny to death. He was attacking his girlfriend Lana Turner when this happened and some say that it was actually Turner who was behind the homicide. The death was ruled as a justifiable homicide considering that it had been done in self-defense. His family sued Turner after his death and accepted a settlement. Ironically, Stompanato was a US Marine before eventually becoming a gang member.
