223. Dominique Dunne – MURDERED
A young actress whose career was cut tragically short, Dominique Dunne was most known for her role on Poltergeist as the family’s eldest daughter. She got the role after appearing in numerous TV shows, including Fame. Before she could star in another film, she was murdered by her ex-boyfriend Thomas Sweeney (currently John Maura). He strangled her and she was in a coma for five days before passing away. However, Sweeney’s defense attorney managed to lower the charges to voluntary manslaughter in a controversial trial. She was only 22 years old at the time.
