46. Ready for the Space Race

In the 1950s and 1960s, the whole world was gripped with a feverish fascination for all things astronomical, thanks to the ever-growing space race between two world powers. Kids in the USA were more obsessed than anyone else, and children would often dress up as astronauts and live out their fantasies of flying to the moon.

In this charming pic, we can see two young boys on a visit to Fort Worth in Texas, back in 1955. They clearly loved learning about space travel, and the chance to put on a space suit must have been impossible to resist!
